About this Event:

Join the NDOW Conservation Education team for a wildlife discovery hike to Island Lake! Along the trail, we’ll explore colorful wildflowers, search for animal tracks, and keep our eyes peeled for any wildlife we may see. At the lake, we’ll take a quick lunch break and soak in the stunning mountain views. And if luck is on our side, we may even catch a glimpse of mountain goats, pikas, or snowcocks enjoying the scenery right alongside us!

Island Lake is a 3.6 mile out-and back hike with about 955 ft. in elevation gain and a starting elevation of about 8,800 ft. Estimated total hike time is about 2.5 hrs. Please take trail conditions into consideration when registering for this event. Ages 9+ are welcome, with adult supervision. Each participant must register individually. Registration opens June 4.
