About this Event:
Whether you're new to boating or an experienced operator, this in-person course can help you be better prepared for the unexpected. It’s also a great opportunity for paddleboarders, kayakers, and anyone who enjoys Nevada’s waterways to learn the rules of the road and become a safer, more confident waterway user.
Why take this course in person? Learn directly from experienced instructors, ask questions in real time, participate in hands-on demonstrations, and connect with other local boaters. This interactive experience brings boating laws, navigation rules and safety practices to life in ways that go beyond simply completing an online course.
Presented by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in partnership with the Nevada Department of Wildlife, this instructor-led course uses Nevada's approved boating education curriculum and covers required equipment, registration, navigation, boating laws, emergencies and more. Nevada law requires anyone born on or after January 1, 1983, to complete a Nevada Department of Wildlife-approved boater education course before legally operating a boat on interstate waters.

Overview:
Did you know that 70% of all boating fatalities occurred on boats where the operator did not receive boating safety instruction? Keep you and your family safe and meet the state education requirement. Nevada boaters born on or after January 1, 1983 are required to complete a Nevada Department of Wildlife approved boater education course before operating a boat on interstate waters. It’s also why NDOW strongly recommends everyone get their boating education card before heading out on the water.
